This breaks my heart! I will NEVER forget that my grandpa, Doyle Christy, was not well enough to make it to my wedding. As much as I wanted to postpone my wedding my grandpa wouldn't hear of it. My most vivid memory of my wedding day is releasing our guests from their pew and Uncle Wayne gave me the biggest hug ever! I knew he was not only acting as my great uncle but also as my grandpa at that moment. It meant everything to me! The smile, or should I say smirk, he gave me was the best! Thank you for giving me a piece of my grandpa in that moment!
Don and Geri Harper enjoyed the friendship of both Wayne and Doris and Don and Wayne worked together on the Coffey Farms both helping with the farming and hauling grain to market for several years. It was a good time with good memories. Several times we went together to the Rathbun Music Show and very much enjoyed their company.
Joyce, Elaine, Carol, and families . . . your mom and dad were a very special couple. I loved coming to visit at your home while we were growing up. Your mom and grandma made beautiful quilts from dressmaking scraps. Your dad worked hard as a farmer and played a valuable role in the community as a volunteer fireman.
