Janice, Joyce and other family members.....I was terribly saddened to learn of your mother's passing. I have known Virginia my entire life, but became very close to her in the last several years due to our shared involvement in city government and the Rathbun Area Solid Waste Commission. She was a strong, wise, no-nonsense, yet caring woman and I learned a great deal from her in my business and political pursuits. Her knowledge, experience, support and advice were invaluable to me and I will miss her dearly. I must say that we also had a lot of fun during our work sessions! You can imagine two head-strong woman working amongst a bunch of men! She was a grand, but diminutive lady and I was honored to have known her. Jan and Joyce, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I am sure Moravia is so sad with her and Doris Jean passing within days. Such great people. I have nothing but fond memories of your mom and the times we had in high school. She was involved and active. She leaves such a legacy to your family. The Gambles store was one of my favorite places to visit as a child. It seemed like they had everything in the world just in that small store. Mom worked for Virginia off and on through the years and she was always nice to me, although I usually wandered downstairs where Max and Billy Jo were working on tires. I still miss those days.
