We learned of Jim's passing yesterday (Saturday) and immediately our thoughts turned to The Loon Lake Gang. Those who have gone on ahead of the rest of us are surely reorganizing for future gatherings as they welcome Jim's input with open arms, Godspeed good buddy and condolences Jan and family. When I came to Mount Ayr in 1984, Doc & I were both asst basketball coaches. We had some good JV games against each other, and always had fun visiting. In later years I enjoyed hearing him talk about his children & grandchildren - WOW was he proud! Whenever I saw him, he would always talk about the Mount Ayr teams and how we had fared vs Wayne andor Interstate 35. No matter how old we are, its never easy to lose dad & grandpa. I have so many fond and 'funny' memories of Doc. I thoroughly enjoyed being his student in high school and in later years stopping to chat with him on the mail route. I could usually find him in his garage working on some golf clubs or sitting on his golf cart just waiting to tease me about one thing or another! What an awesome guy! My thoughts and prayers go out to Jan, his sons, grandchildren and family. He will be greatly missed.
