Steve Kyner's Obituary
Stephen Carroll Kyner, 78, of Humeston passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Steve was born to Eugene & Helen (Heaton) Kyner on July 1, 1941 in Leon, Iowa. He received his education from LeRoy High School, graduating in 1959. He was an avid basketball player and fan as he loved the sport. After high school Steve continued his lifelong career of farming and raising livestock until 2009 when he decided to retire. He was very proud of his land and his century old family farms. Steve enjoyed being outdoors doing anything; farming, fishing, bonfires, tractor rides, car rides and traveling. Playing board games with family was another hobby he enjoyed very much. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and socializing in the community. Steve never met a stranger and he loved to visit, everywhere he went he would know someone and would spend hours talking. He enjoyed teasing and giving people a hard time, sometimes a little too much!, but it was all "to have some fun" as he would always say. He especially loved his dog Lincoln and claimed he was better than any woman would ever be. Survivors include his children: Larry Kyner (Debbie), Lisa Sullivan, Laura Valentine (Rick), grandchildren: Jenny Kopp (Jason), Heather Nobler (Mike), Allison Sullivan, Sydney Sullivan, Trevor Valentine, Tyler Valentine, brother, Beryl Kyner, nephew, Andy Kyner (Tracy), their children; Dana Jones (Josh), Brady Kyner, Brock Kyner and his faithful dog, Lincoln. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Connie Kyner and a niece, Tonya Johnson. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating. Steve's family will greet friends one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Humeston Cemetery.
