RUTH KATHLEEN WOOLLIS Obituary's Obituary
Ruth Woollis, daughter of Ross and Mary Palmer, was born January 13, 1929 on a farm near Sewal, Iowa and was baptized at the Seymour Christian Church. Ruth passed away July 19, 2014 at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 85 years. Ruth was married to Merrill Woollis February 18, 1951. One daughter, Thelma, completed this union. Ruth worked various retail jobs before and after her marriage, but eventually she became a full time homemaker and mother. Ruth enjoyed working on the farm with Merrill, helping will all the daily chores. She enjoyed gardening and canning all the fresh produce she grew. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always putting others first with her caring and generous nature. Ruth was a member of the Eden Garden Club, Legion Auxiliary and a Senior Meal Site board member. She was preceded in death by her husband Merrill, her parents, sisters Irene Lohr and Ila Mae Brees and brother Leo Palmer. Ruth is survived by her daughter Thelma, son-in-law Kirk, and grandson Jacob Welch, all of Des Moines; sister Ruby Starnes of Corydon, brothers Orville Palmer of Prescott, WI, Karl Palmer and wife Marilyn of Corydon, Floyd Palmer of Corydon, and Harry Palmer of Des Moines,; brothers-in-law Koran Brees of Corydon, David Woollis of Cambria, Lyle and wife Joyce Woollis of Cambria; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Ruth is also survived by her special friend Kenneth DeVore of Corydon.
