Patsy Seals Obituary's Obituary
Patsy Seals, 62 of Mystic passed away Wednesday August 3, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Patsy was born on April 27, 1949 to Boyd & Ruby (Wise) Stephens in Rockdale, Texas. She received her education from Rockdale High School in 1967. She married Pearl Seals on April 6, 1968 in Rockdale, Texas. After marriage they moved to Iowa where Patsy began a lifetime of helping others. She started employment with SIEDA, helping to organize a free standing Senior Meal Site in Mystic. She took the title of Director in 1973 and remained in that position until her retirement this year. She also served on numerous Service Boards. Patsy enjoyed spending time on her family farm in Texas and time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Whether it was Christmas with her immediately family or Thanksgiving feasts with citizens throughout the community, being able to help was enjoyment to her. She was a member and past president of the Wapello County United Way, Wapello County Human Resource Center, Helping Hands, Governing Board for the Ottumwa Senior Citizens Center, Member of the State & National RSVP Directors Association, administrated the DHS Volunteer Program for a nine county area, Mystic City Council, Mystic Highland Cemetery Association and received the Susan G. Komen award in Ottumwa. Patsy is survived by her husband Pearl of Mystic, two daughters; Leonna Fogle(Steve) of Centerville, Loretta Seals(Josh McMahon) of Mystic, four grandchildren; Mallory Hatfield Fogle, Holden McVeigh, Mackenzie Fogle, Logan Fogle, a sister, Peggy Ray(Doug) of Ennis, TX, brother, LeRoy Stephens(Susie Simpson) of Rockdale, TX and a brother-in-law Jimmy Mathews of Eddy, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Debbie Mathews. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating. Visitation will be all day Friday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Haines Cemetery.
