My thoughts and prayers are with you all. So sorry for your loss. Deepest Sympathy, Trinita Shewry & family
Patsy was an intelligent, wonderful woman who always gave everything she had to the cause she was fighting for! My fondest memory was spending three days at a training held at a convent in Indiana back in 2001. The first morning on our way to breakfast, she hoped they would have oatmeal, as ...this looks like an oatmeal kind of place she said. Wouldn't you know they had oatmeal on the buffet every morning. Oatmeal always makes me think of her and the fun we had at that training. She will be missed by many and leaves found memories for all whose lives she touched! My condolences to all her family members.
Patsy was a gem! She was one of the first RSVP Directors and helped so many of us new directors find our way. When I started with RSVP in 2001 Patsy, Tammy Meyer and Linda Neer took me under their wing. We we at a conference in Milwaukee and I didn't know anything about RSVP. They were veterans and through their guidance and help I learned the job. I respected Patsy so much for her wisdom and insight with our programs. She was a co worker and friend and will be missed. My sincere sympathy to all her family and friends...she will be missed! Debra Fahn
Patsy would always greet me with a big smile. I've heard it said' find an occupation you like and you'll never have to work'. I think Patsy found the occupation. She made the area a better place! Rest in Peace!
Patsy had so many years as a RSVP director and I loved to hear her share her stories of her early years in the program - she could get us all laughing. I could not attend the funeral - but I have thought about Patsy all day today. My deepest sympathy to Patsy's family and friends. Your loss is shared by many.
My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy goes out to Patsy's family. Patsy was very dedicated to helping people and even reading her obituary, that held true her entire life. She was so nice to me every time we met. She always had a kind word. Although I did not know her as well as the other RSVP Directors did, she would always make time to make me feel important and welcomed. I will definately miss her and the world will never be the same without her.
I have enjoyed getting to know Patsy during the past 8 years. She was a very wise women and I appreciated the wisdom she shared with me as a new RSVP director. I also have great memories of conferences and trainings we attended together. Other RSVP Directors have referred to her fondly as the'bag lady' as she worked so hard to get state funding for RSVP programs in Iowa. I very much appreciate her work and dedication in blazing the trail for RSVP programs across Iowa. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of this wonderful lady.
i'm so sorry for your big lost . i just heard about it my thoughts are with you , hugs and prays . love you.
I regret that I was not able to attend Patsy's big send off; however, I didn't want another day to pass by without expressing my condolences to her family. While I was RSVP director for Des Moines County from 1977-2002, Patsy was a a long-standing, true professional friend. She probably held the distinction of being one of the 'most senior RSVP directors' until her retirement this year. She was a genuine, altruistic individual who mentored many fledgling, floundering RSVP directors over the years. Through it all she seemed interested, patient ,and able to maintain her neat sense of humor. What a strong advocate for those who needed assistance she was! And how she understood the need for the older generation to feel good about themselves by helping others! She was also a great lobbyist for state and federal funds. Her tenure with government-funded programs was a testimony to her tenaciousness and belief in her causes. As family members, you probably don't need to be told about that! Unable to attend her retirement lunch last spring, I called Patsy while the RSVP directors were gathered in Newton. She sounded chirper and ready to party like she usually was whenever I saw her. I'll always remember her that way. May the memories of the good times you shared with Patsy bring a smile to your heart when you need it most. Sincerely, Lorene Ellerhoff Former RSVP Director Des Moines County
Patsy was always so kind to me; I was very sad to hear of her passing... My heart goes out to all of her friends and family and I hope you manage to find comfort and peace after such a significant loss.
