Patrick Gerald Frankl's Obituary
Patrick Gerald Frankl, 80 of Corydon, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Patrick was born to Gerald and Rita (Kunkel) Frankl in Algona, Iowa on March 17, 1943. He received his education from Garrigan High School and continued on to Iowa State University in Ankeny, Iowa then College of Osteopathic Medicine & Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa where he graduated in 1971. He then interned at Des Moines General Hospital.
Patrick married Sandra Garrotto on August 14, 1965 and they welcomed their children, David, Elisa, Shane, Allan, Tim, Kathleen, Barney and Bob.
Patrick practiced at a family practice in Greenfield, Iowa from 1972 to 1983. Him and Sandy then moved to Philipburg, Montanna where he had a family practice from 1983 to 2002. In 2002 they moved back to Corydon where he worked at Corydon Medical Clinic from 2002 to 2009.
Patrick had a love for horses, he had them his whole life except for the years he attended college. He started working/farming with Draft horses in 1974 up until 2022. He enjoyed traveling to visit all of his children and grandchildren.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, David (Angie) Frankl, Elisa (Les) Williams, Shane (Shannon) Frankl, Allan (Dawni) Frankl, Tim Frankl, Kathleen (Robert) Ashmare, Barney (Nicole) Frankl and Bob Walden; siblings, Ron (Pam) Frankl, Gene (Jean) Frankl, Tim (Darlene) Frankl, Annette (Jim) Meyer, Don (Kate) Frankl, Janella (Ron) Reicks and 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mike Frankl and Barney Frankl, 2 nieces and one grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, IA. Interment will immediately follow at the Allerton Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Patrick may be made to his wife Sandra Frankl to be determined at a later date and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: Frankl Family 303 E. Jefferson Corydon, IA 50060.
