EVELYN LAVAR EVITT Evelyn LaVar (Mead) Evitt, the only child of Earl and Ethel Garretson Mead was born at the Mead farm west of Corydon, Iowa, May 29,1933. She departed this life on November 24, 2014 at the Wayne County Hospital. Read Obituary
Aunt Evelyn was a very special person - possibly the sweetest person I have ever known. I, along with my cousin Judy, were flower girls in Howard and Evelyn's wedding on a very hot summer day. Evelyn was always smiling, open hearted and ready to welcome anyone into her home. God has received a very wonderful angel and we will all miss Evelyn more than she possibly ever realized.
This year while researching my family genealogy I learned Evelyn and I were 3rd cousins. My husband and I had the blessing of meeting Howard and Evelyn this fall and visited with them on their farm. We are saddened by Evelyn's passing and send our deepest condolences to Howard and the family. Steve and Cherie Garretson Joens
