Dorothy Marie Flynn Chastain passed away Saturday, January 25th at her daughter's home in Winterset, Iowa at the age of 94. Dorothy was born March 6th, 1919 in a farm home outside of Leon, Iowa to John and Elyda Flynn. She married Wendell Chastain on October 11th, 1941. Dorothy and Wendell were Steward and Matron at the Decatur County Home for 3 years and at the Wayne County Home for 28 years. Dorothy took great pride in cooking for the residents, and worked hard at keeping a clean home for those they cared for. Dorothy and Wendell were active in the community and with the Wayne County Fair, and were named Corydon Old Settlers of the Year in 1983. They retired in Corydon, Iowa until December 2012 when she went to live with her daughter in Winterset. Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Irma Jordan; her grandchildren Jill Tuttle, Lewis (Candace) Jordan, and Grant (Jessica) Jordan; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister Pat (Max) Greenland; her sister-in-law Betty Flynn; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wendell, her two brothers Howard and Martin Flynn, her sister Mary Havens, her son-in-law Lew Jordan, and her parents.
