Sorry for your loss
My prayers and thoughts are with the family.
OH HE WAS IN DENNIS GRADE WHEN HE WENT TO CORYDON,MIKE WAS AT THE CORYDON CARE CENTER WHRN I WORKED THERE,
I knew him from my childhood then as a college roommate, as a fellow traveler and as a life-long friend. Mike was always willing to help me and others. At the back of Mike's house was what we called "the little house" where Mike's grandmother lived until her death. Many of his friends would gather at the little house almost daily to watch television, enjoy snacks, play cards, and argue politics. Mike and his family were members of a Corydon-based informal camping group that met periodically at Iowa's state parks. I remember late fall camping at Ledges State Park where his mother, Bernita, kept the chili pot replenished and Mike & I were responsible to maintain a small wood fire to keep the chili hot. Hungry? Just grab a bowl and spoon and have at it! Mike accompanied Jerry Rush, my wife, Joyce, and me on a number of driving vacations primarily to central and eastern Canada and the northeast American states where we camped and shared meals and experiences. . I considered him to be a good friend and my conversations with him will be greatly missed. Dennis Van Fleet
He loved his music and listening to Cds. Loved talking with him on a daily basis. He always showed me what he bought from Amazon or wherever. If only I could stand there all day we would have found something to talk about. Love you buddy! Bridgett Kent
