It is gratifying to read all of the memories of students, co-workers, school board members, and friends, and to see what a difference Marvin made in the lives of the people with whom he came in contact. Marvin and I were friends from jr. high years, through high school, and also college. There was little doubt that he would be a leader, and when he chose to be a teacher, coach, and later an administrator, he was destined to have a positive effect on countless lives. Sue and I are proud to number the Marvin Ryan family among our friends and share in their loss. In addition to his life as a professional educator, Marvin also was a skilled builder and brick mason, which he learned from his brother and closest friend, Jack. I had the pleasure of working with both of them, and I would not be surprised to be awakened from a dream some night by a vision of Marvin standing on a scaffold with his trowel pointing to a mortar board, with a slight smile on his face, saying in a nonchalant voice, If I had some mud on this board, I'd put some blocks in the wall. Rest in peace, Marvin-the Bryants love you all.
