Loretta Allen's Obituary
Loretta Ann Allen, 74, of Centerville, passed away on April 3, 2017 at the Golden Age Care Center. Loretta was born on May 21, 1942 in Centerville to the late Kenneth and Edna (Thomas) Cornett. After graduating Centerville High School in 1960, Loretta married James Houser and to this union, two children were born. After James' passing in 1976, Loretta married Thomas Allen in Seymour on December 20, 1981. The two remained married until Thomas' passing in 2013. Loretta worked as an abstractor for the Drake/Wilson Law Office for several years. She also spent a few years working at the radio station, KCOG. For many years Loretta and Tom spent their winters in Mission, Texas. In her spare time she enjoyed: restoring old cars (especially T-Birds), camping, socializing over coffee with her fellow winter Texans, and spending time with family and friends. Loretta is survived by her children: Mike Houser of Centerville and Rachelle (Michael) Sporleder of Red Oak; stepchildren: Chad (Brandy) Allen of Lancaster, Missouri, Chuck (Michelle) Allen of Sturgeon, Missouri and Christie (Dean) Cullum of Jesup, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister, Christina (Ron) Smith of Des Moines as well as 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouses and two sisters: Linda Van Dike and Eloise Stickler. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Mount Ararat Cemetery with her family. Memorials may be made to the Mount Ararat Cemetery.
