Lois Arlene Swasick's Obituary
Lois A. Swasick, age 95, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Friday, September 18, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center, Long Term Care in Centerville.
She was born at home east of Moulton, Iowa on March 21, 1925 to Howard and Ruth (Archibald) Alexander. During her childhood, she attended the one room country school, Capital, southeast of Unionville, Iowa where her grandmother and mother attended. Lois graduated from Centerville High School in 1942 and a few months later in August, married Ronald Swasick.
Having worked all of her adult life in the business world, she was a strong advocate for equality for working women and was district president of Business and Professional Womens Club for southern Iowa. Lois was named Woman of the Year for Pancake Day in 1974.
She greatly treasured the friendships she made in her life.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents; and a brother, Rex.
Left to honor her memory include her daughter, Alexia (Ray); her granddaughter, Catherine (Bill); great grandchildren, Ariel and Alex; along with several cousins, nephews and nieces.
According to family wishes, cremation has been accorded. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Udell, Iowa. A luncheon/public gathering to share memories about Lois will be held at the Moulton Community Center on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 11:30AM-1:30AM. A light lunch will be provided at this time. A memorial has been established to the Fairview Cemetery Association and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com. Lange Funeral Home of Centerville has been entrusted with caring for the family.
