Larry Dean Wendland's Obituary
Larry Wendland Jr, age 35 of Moulton, Iowa passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born September 21, 1976 in Scott County, Iowa, the son of Larry Dean and Callie Rose (Knapp) Wendland. Larry grew up in Moulton, Iowa. He was very active in high school athletics, especially baseball, basketball, and track. Larry was an exceptional talent in baseball and was known throughout Moulton as a ""baseball standout."" He took pride in being part of the Moulton-Udell Class of 1995.
Larry married Vicky Wendland on May 22, 2003. To this union River Wendland was born in 2004.
Larry was a close friend of Tom Birchmier and worked as a tree trimmer for Tom's Affordable Tree Service for many years.
In Larry's free time he loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, and hunting. Most importantly, Larry loved spending time with his family and friends. He had infectious laugh that everyone enjoyed. He will be truly missed by all.
He is survived by his father, Larry Dean Wendland Sr. of Moulton, Iowa; three children, Johnelle (Don) Sherwood, Danielle Bohn (significant other, Ross Vanderheyden) and River Wendland all of Centerville, Iowa; four sisters, Cecil Mary (Randy) Garrison of Russell, Iowa, Donna (Jujio) McDaniel of Albia, Iowa, Tommie (Danny) Luntsford of Moberly, Missouri, and Janice Wendland-Seals of Moulton, Iowa; twelve nieces and nephews, Shorona, Mysti, Nathan, Marcie, Jessica, Kaitlin, Camryn, Danielle, Karress, Jess, Justin, and Jaden; and five grandchildren, Owen, Ryan, Chance, Reed, and Paisley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Callie Rose (Knapp) Wendland; Grandparents, Trenton Wendland, Pearlene and Clint Rifenberry, and Cecil Mary and Arthur Knapp; a daughter, Vanesa Thomas; a brother, Trenton Wendland in infancy; and numerous uncles and aunts.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home & Crematory in Centerville. A visitation will be held on Sunday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-2 PM. Following the funeral, Larry will be cremated and inurnment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the River Wendland College Fund and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
