Judith K Long's Obituary
Judith K. Long age 72 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was born January 5, 1942 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Vivian (Brinegar) West. Judy was raised in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1960. She married Larry ""Loose"" Long, the love of her life, on September 18, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Centerville.
Judy was employed as a production scheduler at Young Radiator in Centerville for twenty five years. In the latter stages of the twenty five year span with Young Radiator, she began caring for her husband Larry as his health started to decline. Judy was able to continue her daily care of Larry, while beginning a new career with Super 8 Motel in Centerville when Young Radiator closed the Centerville Plant. She was the manger of Super 8 from 2005-2013, retiring due to health reasons.
Judy's family was her everything. In addition to the love that she had for all of her family, Judy enjoyed numerous passions throughout her lifetime. She loved riding motorcycles. She also had a passion for playing pool. Judy played in local pool leagues in the Centerville area for over forty years. She was also long standing club member of the Eagles in Centerville.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Larry ""Loose"" Long; her parents; a sister, Virginia Stewart; and a grandson, Jacob O'Connell.
She is survived by her two children, Melinda (Duane) Berner of Stuart, Iowa and Mike (Julie) Long of Walcott, Iowa; grandchildren, Tasha (Larry Marvin) Norton of Moulton, Iowa, Tiffany (Curt) Wolfe of Dexter, Iowa, D.J. (Tahara) Norton of Johnston, Iowa, Kristina (Josh) Renslow of Stuart, Iowa, Kelli Berner of Stuart, Iowa and Nathanael O'Connell of Davenport, Iowa; eleven great grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Marsha) West of Toney, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Brian Hargrave officiating. A visitation will be held at Lange Funeral Home on Wednesday from Noon until service time at 2 PM. Following the funeral, cremation will take place and an inurnment will follow at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the family of Judith Long and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
