John G. Walden's Obituary
John Walden, age 88 of Centerville, Iowa passed away October 14, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
John was born March 2, 1922, the son of Alva and Nina (Parcel) Walden in Iconium, Iowa. He married Opal Malin on December 25, 1944 at the First Baptist Church. John enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was honorable discharged in 1945. After serving in WWII, John and Opal built a home in Rockford, Illinois, where he worked as a mail carrier. John was a member of the First Baptist Church, VFW and American Legion.
John is survived by his wife, Opal Walden of Centerville, Iowa; children, Denise Stevens of Rockford, Illinois, Randy (Debi) Walden of South Beloit, Illinois, and Sandra (Roger) Rees of Centerville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Louise Cline, Chloe Sundeen, Lilly, Alva Jr., Jack, Merle, and Richard.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will be held at a later time at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford, Illinois.
