My Grandpa John was the Patriarch of our family. He was an absolutely amazing man and there will NEVER be another like him. I grew up watching him carve our Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys, building houses for my Grandma Opal, and us little tikes bringing him McDonald's lunches, while he was on the roof. I remember the smell of coffee in their home bright and early every morning, on the nights I was lucky enough to spend the night at their home. I remember him taking care of little woodland creatures, and his basement full of tools and trinkets with which to build bird houses, ships in a bottle or a clever wooden tool made for opening the oven and pulling out the shelves without ever burning your hands. I remember so many amazing memories, that it almsot seems unfair to list only these few here in this venue. My daughters and I had the amazing opportunity to fly up and see him 9 weeks ago and he still had that amazing twinkle in his eyes and his smile. I will FOREVER cherish having known him and am truly a better person for having John and Opal as my grandparents. My Love to you all.
