James Edward Nash, son of James W. Nash and Beulah (Baxter) Nash was born October 28, 1923 in Palmyra, Nebraska. He died December 17, 2012 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 89. Ed grew up on a farm working horses and mules and he continued farming following graduation from Palmyra High School in 1941. Ed and his parents purchased land in southern Iowa in 1948 and later in 1953 they moved to a farm south of Allerton. Ed milked cows, gradually changing over to feeding out cattle and farmed the land while caring for his aging parents. He and his neighbor Merle Levis became good friends and enjoyed attending community events and traveling together. On February 17, 1979 Ed and Ruth Moore were married, thus beginning a new chapter in his life. Together they built a new home on the farm and Ed continued to feed out cattle until his retirement. Much of time he kept a horse for working his cattle and for his riding pleasure. Ed and Ruth also enjoyed traveling. They went on several trips and tours of the United States and Canada.
