Jade Prokes' Obituary
Jade I Prokes, age 38, of Melrose, formerly of Numa, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 in rural Moravia. He was born May 7, 1973 in Centerville, the son of Jerome Prokes and Betty Blecher Prokes. He graduated from the Centerville High School. He attended Indian Hills Community College and a college in Nebraska. Jade was a supervisor for Graham Construction Company. He liked to hunt, to fish, including ice fishing, boat on the lake and go canoeing. He is survived by his mother Betty McVeigh of Numa, Iowa, his father Jerome Prokes (Evie) of Cincinnati, Iowa, sister Tina Martin of Centerville, brothers Justin McVeigh of Numa, Jeremia McVeigh of Numa, and John Weston of Grimes, Iowa, half brother Jerome Prokes Jr. of Red Oak, Iowa and a half sister Dawn Nielson of Red Oak, Iowa, Twila McVeigh, grandmother, numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is also survived by a special friend, Monica McGrew of Corydon. His beloved yellow Lab of sixteen years, Jeana, also survives him. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie McVeigh, Geraldine Munik, grandmother, Ivan Prokes, grandfather, Marie Blecher, grandmother, Frank McVeigh grandfather, nephew, Avery McVeigh, and a close cousin, Johnny McVeigh.
