Jack Stufflebeem's Obituary
Jack Stufflebeem, age 78 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born on February 10, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Bertha (Fleming) Stufflebeem. Jack graduated from Centerville High School. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country faithfully. He married Joyce Forbes on May 31, 1952 at the Grace Tabernacle Church in Centerville.
Jack was a salesman for a wholesale company, selling plumbing, heating, and electrical equipment for thirty three years. He took numerous college courses and attended advanced trade schools during his career. Jack was the chief handyman for One of a Kind located off the west side of the Centerville square.
After his retirement, Jack started a second career, installing furnaces and wiring houses for Scott Sebolt, one of his former customers.
He was a member of the Dale Church and a devout Christian, and He enjoyed teaching a Sunday school class at the Dale Church for twenty years.
Jack was also an assistant chief/chief for the Centerville Fire Department for thirty two years.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Centerville, Iowa; three children, Terry (Sherri) Stufflebeem of Polk City, Iowa, Greg (Sherry) Stufflebeem of Lyons, Oregon, and Brad (Michelle) of Centerville, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Meredith (Dave) Smith of Silverthorne, Colorado, Megan Stufflebeem of Des Moines, Iowa, Ryan Stufflebeem of Ames, Iowa, Justin Stufflebeem of Polk City, Iowa, Sean (Patty) Stufflebeem of Fernwood, Idaho, Nathan Stufflebeem of Salem, Oregon, Thomas Stufflebeem of Sublimity, Oregon, Tessa Stufflebeem of Stayton, Oregon, Cessna and Piper Stufflebeem of Centerville, Iowa; a brother, Richard (Connie) Stufflebeem of Ankeny, Iowa; and a sister Beulah Jean Thompson of Centerville, Iowa; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Bertha; a brother Junior Stufflebeem; and an infant daughter, Jerolyn.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Dale Church north of Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery, just east of Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will be held all day Tuesday at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to either the American Cancer Society or the Dale Church and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
