Gurneth Leone Elliott's Obituary
Gurneth Leone Elliott of Centerville, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 18th at the age of 94.
She was born on March 30, 1929, in Paris, MO to Gurney and Lillie Willier. Gurneth moved with her family to Centerville during her adolescent years and graduated from Centerville High School in 1946. On November 8, 1948, she married Joe Elliott in Ft. Collins, CO. This union resulted in six children - Kathy Elliott of Ankeny IA; Kevin (Anita) Elliott of Mankato, MN; Libby Brown of Modesto, CA; Carol (Robert) Regalado of Murrieta, CA; David (Peggy) Elliott of Rathbun, IA; and Todd (Kim) Elliott of Ogunquit, ME.
Gurneth was employed at Uniform Printing for a number of years, and retired from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after 35 years. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church. Gurneth loved spending time with her children, her eleven grandchildren, and her seventeen great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and was an avid reader. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her humor and quick wit.
Gurneth was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, her brothers (Lester and C.J. Willier), and sister (Carol Reed).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Centerville. Burial services will follow at Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville.
