Fred Allen Moorman, Sr.'s Obituary
Fred Allen Moorman Sr., age 86, of Mystic IA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23rd, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born January 19th, 1937 in Mystic, Iowa, the son of Rudolf and Katherine (Krum) Moorman. Before graduating from Mystic High School, he joined the US Navy at the age of 17. After serving on the Oriskany during the Korean Conflict, he discharged and worked in California. He furthered his education by attending mechanical engineering school in Chicago, Ill, and later at CCC. On October 18th, 1958, he married Jo Ann Easterday from Memphis, Mo. To this union, eleven children were born; Marla, Fred Jr, David, Becky, Sheila, Kathy, Holly, Mary Ann, Jaime, Josh, and Jake.
Fred was a very hard worker, sometimes even working 2-3 jobs, and attending college, all at the same time while supporting his wife and his kids, which were the pride of his life. He and his wife Jo Ann owned and operated several businesses, the Mystic Block Plant, and Moorman's T.V. & Appliance, for over 40 years. He earned his pilot license in 1980 and loved to fly planes. He loved to travel with his kids and was always up for an adventure, the bigger the better, especially if mountains and rattlesnakes were involved!
Left to cherish Fred's memory are his children, Fred (Gail) Moorman Jr., David (Gloria) Moorman, Becky (Tim) Thomas, Sheila (Terry) Kauzlarich, Kathy Moorman, Holly (Shawn) Oden, MaryAnn (Scott) Sampson, Jaime (Jamie) Cochran, Josh (Shirley) Moorman, and Jake (Jessica) Moorman; twenty eight grandchildren, Creighton (Courtney) Moorman, Ethan (Rachel) Moorman, Jeremy (Kayla) Moorman, Jesse (Bailey) Moorman, Jordan (Conner) Kelderman, Nick (Anna) Thomas, Sheena Sullivan, Cody (Angelee) Kauzlarich, Lacey (Quinn) Leith, Kayden Kauzlarich, Travis Henderson, Trevor Henderson, Joslyn (John) Allgood, Caleb Jellison, Logan Jellison, Tiger Terpstra, Whitton Oden, Tye Oden, Kylie Sampson, Kellen Sampson, Briar (Olivia) Cochran, Emma Cochran, Sophie Cochran, Ashley (Austin) Sommerla, Alec (Tetiana) Moorman, Reegan Moorman, Gage Moorman, and Zoie Moorman; several great grandchildren; a brother Bill, sister in laws, Anne Moorman, and Virginia Egbert, as well as several nieces and nephews.
