Frances Essick's Obituary
Frances Essick, 94, of Centerville and formerly of Corydon, passed away on October 27, 2018 at Centerville Specialty Care. Frances was born in Des Moines on March 21, 1924 to Earl and Lila (Gallaway) Hatfield. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1942. On July 4, 1942, she married Alonzo Essick and to this union, seven children were born. Frances was a wonderful homemaker, loving mother and wife who was devoted to the Lord. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, attending bible study and volunteering/participating in various church activities. She also enjoyed gardening and spending quality time with her family. Survivors include five children: Charlotte Novotny (Myles), Phyllis Howard (Gary), Evelyn Beard (Doug), Elizabeth Zuehlsdorf (Jim) and Steve Essick, daughter-in-law, Peggy Essick, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, three sisters: Margaret Harper, Dorothy Hildreth, Marian Perkins, brother-in-law, Kenneth Essick (Vivian), sister-in-law, Mary Essick and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Alonzo, parents, sons: Leonard Essick and Frank Essick and a sister Betty Trethewey. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Promise City Cemetery.
