Eunice Mickey's Obituary
Eunice Mickey, age 94 of Centerville, Iowa graduated from life into eternity on Sunday, September 02, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
She was born on March 13, 1918 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of William and Magnolia (Peek) Seath. Eunice was raised in Centerville and graduated with the Centerville High School Class of 1936. She married Leslie Robert Mickey on December 31, 1941 at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville. Leslie preceded her into God's eternity on August 22, 2005.
Eunice spent her early adult years raising a family. While she was taking care of her family, Eunice worked part time at both the Appanoose County Treasurer's Office and the credit bureau. Following her children's departure from the home, Eunice went to work for Carmer Motors as a book keeper. She later spent over twenty years working for KMGO/KCOG radio station as a book keeper.
She enjoyed many crafts, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Eunice thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of quilting. In fact, she made over two hundred and fifty quilts and sent them to Haiti prior to the 2010 Earthquake. Furthermore, she helped organize a Quilt Ministry with other church ladies for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Eunice and her family were one of the founding families of the Church of Christ in Centerville. She remained very active in her role in the Church. Eunice was also a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by three children, Kenneth (Deana) Mickey of Gering, Nebraska, Larry (Esther) Mickey of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Linda Neff of Council Bluffs, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Seath of Hyattsville, Maryland and Delores Seath of Columbia, Missouri. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leslie; three brothers, Byron, William, and Robert Seath; a sister Bettine Gilliand; and a great grandchild, Nolan Lincoln.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Dan Smith and Larry Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville from 3-8 PM, with the family present from 6-8. A memorial has been established to the Church of Christ in Centerville and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
