Ernestine Hubbard's Obituary
Ernestine Hubbard, age 77 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.
She was born September 20, 1934 in East Prairie, Missouri, the daughter of Ernest and Jewel (Brewington) Ray. Ernestine was raised in East Prairie and graduated from East Prairie High School. She later attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri for two years, taking classes in order to achieve a teaching certificate.
Ernestine worked in several different fields throughout her lifetime, including teaching, bookkeeping, and clerical duties with the St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville, and waitressing at the Centerville Pizza Hut. She married Bobby G. Hubbard in East Prairie, Missouri on October 21, 1955. To this union two children were born, Bobby Michael and Amy Laura Hubbard.
Ernestine is survived by her two children, Bobby Michael Hubbard of Centerville, Iowa, and Amy Laura Puls of Broomfield, Colorado; four grandchildren, Joni McKay of Keokuk, Iowa, Jennifer Hubbard of Kileen, Texas, Audrey and Ellie Puls both of Broomfield, Colorado; and one great grandson, Colin McKay of Keokuk, Iowa, a sister Barbara McKinley and a brother John Ray, both of East Prairie, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby G. Hubbard; and her parents Ernest and Jewel Ray.
Funeral services will be held 2 Pm, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Walter King officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 9-2 PM, with the family present from 1 Pm until service time. Memorials have been established to the Centerville Church of the Nazarene and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
