Dorothy Haines, age 91, of Exline, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Homestead of Centerville. Dorothy was born on June 13, 1929 in Exline, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Richard Drake and Laura Marie (Bauman) Drake. She Read Obituary
Mrs. Haines was my 5th and 6th grade Science teacher at Wayne community in the early '70s. She was a WONDERFUL teacher. Much learning took place in her classroom and she was such a practical and caring influence in our lives. Thank you for sharing her with so many kids. I am so sorry for your family's loss.

Mrs. Haines was a favorite teacher of mine. She was kind and she loved kids. I do not think I ever heard her raise her voice but we all respected her and paid attention to what she taught us. We need more teachers like her today. ❤️ Prayers to her family.
Please accept this outside remembrance. Some years ago I visited with Dorothy's brother Larry and his wife. I love family tree research and that brought me to locate Larry and Carol and then share talk about our distant Drake connection on my father's side and a Slavin connection on my late mother's side. Dorothy was a third cousin of my late maternal grandfather Paul Cook of Downing, Schuyler County, Missouri. And here I have come to chronicle more of Dorothy's family and I would love to correspond with another who might share an interest in genealogy and the two surnames above. My sincere sympathy. Dorothy-Haines was a wonderful woman and her family showed her love, dignity and respect for others. She will be missed by so many. Thoughts, prayers and hugs to her family, friends and community!

It was an honor to meet Dorothy while visiting my sister Joni Davis in Exline. She and Donald welcomed me into their home and we had such a nice time visiting. I could tell right away she was a very special person that I know will be greatly missed.
