David Thomas Dillon's Obituary
David Thomas Dillon, age 69, of Centerville, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
David was born on January 16, 1951 in Lebanon, Indiana, the son of Dr. Thomas L. Dillon, MD and Juanita (Streepy) Dillon. On December 31, 1987, he was united in marriage to Denise Scott at the Presbyterian Church in Green Castle, Indiana. To this union, three children were born, Sosia, Eryn and Drew.
Following high school graduation, He furthered his education, and graduated from DePauw University with a Master's in Education, focused on Composition and Journalism. He taught English for many years at North Putnam High School in Indiana. He continued his education in Psychology and Counseling at Drake University to complete his LISW. He practiced as a Marital and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Clinic Director in Iowa, then Tennessee, until his retirement.
David loved spending time with his children and their friends. He was always eager for gatherings, whether it was a holiday or a routine Taco Tuesday with his grandkids. His excitement about being with friends and the people he loved, often elevated a hike outdoors or a board game into a memorable event.
Those left to honor Davids memory are his wife, Denise (Scott) Dillon; his daughter, Sosia (Nick) Kipfer, his daughter, Eryn Dillon, son Drew Dillon, foster son, Anthony Swindle; grandchildren, Noah, Collin, Coen, Miah and Atlas; as well as many other family members and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Dr. Thomas Dillon, MD., as well as several other family members.
According to family wishes, cremation has been accorded. There are no scheduled services at this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Family of David Dillon, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Dillon Family, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
