Cynthia Oxenreider's Obituary
Cynthia Oxenreider, age 44 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
She was born on June 6, 1971 in Amityville, New York, the daughter of Charles and Gale (Potters) Shilstone. Cynthia grew up in Lindenhurst, New York up to her teen years. Her family then relocated to North Carolina.
Following high school graduation, Cynthia met Jim Oxenreider while he was on military leave from Desert Storm. They were united in marriage on August 15, 1991 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Jim and Cynthia were blessed with two children, Ashley and Cierra.
Jim and Cynthia lived in numerous places throughout the world while Jim served his country. During this period of time, Cynthia was extremely active in the FSC (military support groups for spouses and other family members). Moreover, she was the president of the division family support group while they were living in Korea.
In her free time, Cynthia enjoyed scrapbooking, shopping, cooking, and most recently, she had been actively attending church.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Jim Oxenreider of Moravia, Iowa; two children, Ashley and Cierra Oxenreider of Moravia, Iowa; her mother, Gale Potters of Centerville, Iowa; sister, Jill Shilstone of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; brother, Charles Parker Shilstone of New Bern, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and an uncle, Tim Shilstone.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Brad Gray officiating. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8 PM, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Cremation will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the family of Cynthia Oxenreider and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
