I am so glad I was able to visit and get to know this amazing woman! Her smile was contagious! Even though she was going thru her own battles she had an upbeat positive attitude. Cindy and I had been friends since elementary school. She lived right down the block from me. She wore make up and the coolest clothes. As we got into junior high and high school- we had the best times together. All my memories of Cindy are of us laughing. Even in the toughest times of her life, growing up, she would still make me smile. We were always by that water where we lived (Great South Bay)- sitting at night and looking out into the darkness with lights all the way across the water. As we got older and moved apart- she was still always there for me through my own times of struggle (my wedding, my brother's death, when I moved to Texas and had a child and most recently when my own sister passed, same diagnosis).
