Cheri was a wonderful friend to me at Northwestern. She was so vibrant, full of laughter and joy.
She broadened my horizons. She and her roommate Tanya introduced me to the music of David Bowie. Cheri was bold. She offered to write unpaid theater reviews for small papers and parlayed that into free tickets for shows in Chicago. I went with her a couple of times and saw great theater. She even wangled us the opportunity to go out with the cast after a show and ask them questions about their stagecraft. She introduced me to new cuisines--I had never had Japanese food until one of our pre-theater dinners.
But mostly I remember our having fun just hanging out--whether it was just the two of us, or in a larger group of her friends. While Cheri and I had fallen out of touch, the memories of the friendship we shared remain precious to me. I will always appreciate the warmth, joy, and laughter she brought into my life.
