Charles DeWayne Moore's Obituary
Charles DeWayne Moore, age 84 of Moravia, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa.
He was born September 23, 1929 in Melrose, Iowa, the son of Charles E. and Vera Minnesota (Callen) Moore. He was united in marriage to Mabel Lucille Sager on October 23, 1949 at Seymour, Iowa. He farmed his entire life on a Century Farm west of Moravia. He raised registered angus cattle and sold bulls throughout Southern Iowa and Northern Missouri.. DeWayne was active in Farm Bureau, was a 4H leader, and was on the Appanoose County Zoning Commission and the Iowa State Extension office. He and Mabel loved to travel with Farm Bureau, follow his children and grandchildren in sports, get together with his friends and play cards.
He survived by a son Chuck (Connie) Moore of Melrose; a daughter Jan (Mike) Carney of Centerville; a daughter-in-law Stacy (Russ) Moore of Melrose; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother Virgil William ""Bill"" (Janice) Moore of Melrose.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel; a son Russell; his parents; 2 sisters, Mildred Hiner and Joann Turner.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, Iowa with Pastor John Van Weelden officiating. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Cemetery in Plano, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with the family present from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Moravia High School Booster Club or American Diabetes Assoc. and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
