Carroll V Murdy's Obituary
Carroll Vern Murdy, age 100, of Mystic, passed away December 30, 2024 at his home.
Carroll was born on June 19, 1924 in Moulton, Iowa to Leland and Ruth (Dibble) Murdy. He graduated from high school with the class of 1941. On March 3, 1951 he married Marjorie Large, and together they raised their children Deborah, Lori, and Melisa.
Throughout most of his life Carroll was a machinist in factories. He worked for Ideal Industries in Sycamore, Illinois. He was an animal lover who enjoyed being outdoors. When he wasn't outdoors, he was usually reading a book, listening to music or doing a crossword puzzle. He was a hardworking, kind and honest man. He will be remembered for his wonderful story telling of eras long gone. He was able to take his family through the journey of his life with vivid stories that will continue to be passed down.
Carroll is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Michael) Bender, Melisa (Kim) Harden, Lori (James) Warner; stepson Larry Dempsey; three grandchildren, Nikole Piper, Nathan Eagen and Shaun Allicks; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary Piper, Randi House, Chrissy Shaffer and Jon Pfeifer; one great-great grandchild, Matthew House.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie and his parents; four sisters, Jewel Murdy, Jean Murdy, Zoe Dudley, and Fay Jack; three brothers Dale, Neil and Beryl.
A private family graveside service will be on May 3, 2025 at Exline Cemetery.
