Billy Leroy Wilson's Obituary
Billy Leroy Wilson, 91, of rural Numa, Iowa entered God's kingdom on July 2, 2023.
Billy was born on May 5, 1932 in Numa, Iowa, the son of Walter and Zella (Smith) Wilson. He graduated from Seymour High School. On October 20, 1951, he was united in marriage to Jo Fry, and to this union, four children were born, Vicki, Tony, Jeanne, and Kelly. On November 4, 1952, Billy joined the United States Army. He faithfully served his country during the Korean war with the 35th Infantry Regiment, earning several medals. He was honorably discharged on September 21, 1954.
Billy worked at the Centerville Garage before joining the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors where he served as a District Service Manager for 33 years. The Omaha Zone was rated one of the best for many years and Billy was one of the top service managers in his zone.
His hobbies included collecting and restoring Oldsmobile cars. Billy was a member of the Oldsmobile Club of America for 46 years, where his cars received numerous first place awards. Bill was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene, Iowa Oldsmobile Club, and the NRA. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as tinkering in his shop, or cutting wood and clearing brush.
He is survived by his four children who were very blessed to call him Dad: Vicki Bowman (Brett), Tony Wilson (Roxanne), Jeanne Bryant (Michael) and Kelly Anson (Jeff); 9 grandchildren, Jason Geller, Devora Geller, Riva Andersen, Jessica Wilson, Julia Goodrich, Eric Knick, Katie Young, Matt Anson and Megan Ockenfels; along with 6 great grandchildren.
Billy was proceeded in death by his wife, Jo Fry Wilson and his sister, Donna Farnsworth.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Mark Wagner officiating. Burial will follow the service at Livingston Cemetery, southwest of Numa, with full Military Rites conducted. Visitation will take place Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 12:00-2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or to Lighthouse Nazarene Church in Moravia, IA, and they may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Wilson Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
