Betty Lou Smith's Obituary
Betty Lou Smith, 79 of Centerville passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. Betty was born on November 2, 1939 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to George & Wilda (Baldwin) Smith. Betty received her education from Seymour High School graduating in 1957. Betty later attended Northeast Missouri State University for 2 years. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and co-workers. Betty was very involved in the Iowa State Fair on a yearly basis. She was involved with the Corndog Kickoff and the Blue Ribbon Foundation. Betty was always ready to offer expert advice about the Iowa State Fair. Whether it be, lemonade of food; she knew the best vendors as well as the best restaurants in the Des Moines area. Betty also enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding wildlife, camping during the fair, going to the Cantril Dutchman Store and her pets. Survivors include her sister, Sharon Pavlik (Larry), nieces: Angela Clayworth (Jody), Jennifer Humbleton (Jeremiah), great nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Haines Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Iowa State Blue Ribbon Foundation and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
