I am so privileged to have had Betty Lou in my life. The way that you taught me how to be Blue Ribbon Foundation volunteer created some wonderful memories for me. Your friendship and your caring has meant the world to me.
Betty Lou was a mainstay and the fabric that held the Mercy Emergency Department together through the tough times and provided laughs during the sparse moments of controlled chaos. BL was such a nurturing woman and kind soul. She was so unselfish and put everyone ahead of herself and it wasn't a matter of wanting the attention, it was a matter of being BL. After leaving the ER to pursue other opportunities BL always made it a point to stop and try and find me before I could find her at the Iowa State Fair. She usually won but it wasn't a contest, it was the desire to see each other's smiles, exchange hugs, sit on a bench and chat, and maybe sneak her a few extra BBQ samples. BL will be missed and everyone she impacted by her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit is better for having known this amazing woman. Rest In Peace Betty Lou!
