Benjamin Wencil Krusel's Obituary
Benjamin Wencil Krusel, age 81, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Ben was born on May 1, 1939 in Elizabeth, Minnesota, the son of Anthony and Veronica (Scully) Krusel. He graduated High School in Coal Spring, Minnesota. Following high school, Ben enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country faithfully. He was united in marriage to Darlene Isabelle McBride, and to this union, one child was born, Benjamin Jr. Benjamin Jr. passed away in 1975 accidentally at Clearwater Beach in West Des Moines, Iowa. Darlene passed away in a fire at their home in Des Moines on July 15, 1995.
Ben worked as an Electrician and Mechanic for most of his life. From 1998-2000 he was also employed as a shuttle driver for Savery Hotel, delivery driver for Corporate Express, Equitable and Ameris Bank- where he met Margaret Ruth. He was active in many groups, including the National Radio Institute in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, boating and fishing.
Ben was united in marriage to Margaret Ruth Thompson on December 8, 2001 in Des Moines, Iowa. Ben and Margaret Ruth enjoyed raising goats in Mystic for a period of time, and spending time together.
Left to honor Bens memory are his siblings, Rosalee Campbell of Bondurant, Iowa, Bernard (Jim) Krusel of Des Moines, Iowa, and Benedict Krusel of Canada; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Krusel; his current wife, Margaret Ruth Krusel; his parents, Anthony and Veronica Krusel; a son, Benjamin Krusel; and siblings, Tom Krusel, Mary Spangler, Josephine Bird, Ann Henrichs, and Anthony Krusel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, July 13, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Josh Davenport officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will take place on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family receiving friends from 10-11 AM. A memorial has been established to the Unionville, Iowa Cemetery and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
