Ann L. Shelton's Obituary
Ann Shelton, 93 of Corydon passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at her home, with her family at her side.
Ann was born to William & Annie (Black) Phillips on May 10, 1929 in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. She received her education from Okmulgee High School, graduating in 1947. Ann was united in marriage to Robert R. Shelton on August 23, 1947. To this union came two children: Pat and Robert Jr.
Ann was a homemaker who enjoyed, sewing, cooking, baking, crafting, gardening, and canning her surplus from the garden. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children, and grandchildren, never letting them leave without an ice cream cone. Ann was on several boards at the United Methodist Church, also a life time member of the Order Of Eastern Star, and the Wayne County Historical Society, with a firm dedication to all. She worked at the Corydon Public Library for many years, with also being employed by Shivvers and Neeley manufacturing. Ann and her husband Bob, were Wayne County's first Master Gardner's and were Old Settlers of the year in 2011. They enjoyed traveling, including trips to Oklahoma to visit family and going to Bob's Air Force reunions, as well as a trip to Hawaii. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children; Pat Hardin (Lee) of Houston, TX, Bob Shelton Jr. (Janice) of Indianola, IA, grandchildren: Lynn Sampson-Berzins San Antino, TX, Andrew Hardin (Jennifer) Houston, TX, Jonathan Shelton (Amy) West Des Moines, IA, Lori Troyer (Adam) Grimes, IA, seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, brother; Bill Phillips (Shirley Mae) of Cushing, OK, and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and Annie G Phillips, husband, Robert R. Shelton, on September 2, 2013 and six siblings: Howard Phillips, Jewel Cox, James Phillips, Emma Jackson, John Phillips and Shirley Sue Haney, all of Oklahoma.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Corydon United Methodist Church. Interment will immediately follow in Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be all day Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home with family present from 5-7:00 pm.
