Zona Rigsby's Obituary
Zona Mae "Pete" Rigsby, 91 of Centerville and formerly of Social Circle, Georgia passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at Centerville Specialty Care. Pete was born on May 11, 1927 in Haralson, Georgia to JT & Vonney (Barnes) Merce. On March 4, 1944, Pete was united in marriage to Ralph Rigsby in Bremen, GA, he preceded her in death in 1980. Throughout her life she worked in the restaurant and clothing business until her retirement in 1980. Pete was a former member of the Draketown Baptist Church in Draketown, GA. She enjoyed listening to country music, sewing and embroidering. Pete's family enjoyed her cooking, especially her sweet potato pie, biscuits & gravy were the family favorites. Survivors include three children: Steve Rigsby of Centerville, Brenda Smith of Monroe, GA, Stoney Rigsby of Stone Mountain, GA, three grandchildren: Tonya Smith (Shawn), Marie Strickland (Willie), Ben Smith, all of Monroe, GA, four great grandchildren and a sister, Julie Ocker (Gil) of Centerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Rigsby, sisters: Kitty Adams, Ellen Morris, Sybel Calkins, brothers: William Parrish and James Parrish. A visitation will take place from 1-5 pm, Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 3-5 pm. Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Social Circle Cemetery in Social Circle, Georgia.
