Woody Ewing's Obituary
Elwood (Woody) Ewing was born on September 7, 1945 to Carl and Gladys (McCoskey) Ewing in Webster City, Iowa. He attended country school through the 6th grade and then went to town to attend Jr. High and High School. He graduated in 1963 from Webster City High School. Upon graduation he farmed with his dad in Hamilton County. On October 24, 1964 he married Gloria Richardson. The couple resided in Hamilton County farming until 1971. During the winter Woody worked at Beam Industries. In March of 1971 the family moved to Wayne County and made their home in Allerton, where they farmed. They later moved in to town and Woody was employed by NZMP for 22 years. In 1999 he started Ewing LTD Trucking with his sons. Due to health reasons he retired from trucking. He still felt he needed to work so he was employed with Coddington Inc. and later worked for Murphy-Brown-Smithfield. Woody is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Ewing, sons: Tim (Melissa), Gary (Kim) and Brent, grandchildren: Melanie (Kyle Arnold), Jessie Ewing (Sean), J.C. Ewing (Crystal), Tierney Ewing, and Tori Ewing, step grandchildren: Kelli Boyce (Matt), Michael Anderson (Jen), Brice Mehrhoff (Affton), Tarren Mehrhoff (Logan), and K.D. LaChappelle, great grandchildren: Noah, Natalie, Karlie, and Nathan Arnold, Lara and Henry Elwood Ewing (due in August), step great grandchildren: EJ Anderson, Willow and Wyatt Van Horn, Remmie and Colt Mehrhoff, and Aria Hernandez. He is also survived by his sister Carlene Tipping (Leonard), many nieces and nephews, his dog Rusty (his favorite golf cart rider and buddy), and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gladys Ewing and his parents-in-law, Morris and Ruth Richardson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials may be given to EveryStep Hospice-Centerville, Iowa.
