Winnie Pozarich's Obituary
Winnie Marie ""Posovich"" Pozarich died peacefully at her daughter Betty's home in Centerville, Iowa Monday morning September 29, 2008 at the age of 93.
Winnie was born March 8, 1915, the daughter of Ira and Cora (Davis) Hamilton in Mystic, Iowa. She married Steve Pozarich on June 23, 1932 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1985. They lived in Rathbun all of their married life. Winnie was a homemaker and also cooked at Sol's restaurant in Rathbun for years. She enjoyed playing cards, occasional ""outings"" to Osceola to visit the casino, and spending time with her loved ones, which included cooking for the entire family. Winnie attended St. Anthony's Church in Rathbun until it closed and in recent years attended St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Winnie is survived by a son, Steve (Sally) Posovich Jr. of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two daughters, Betty (Gabe) Raskie of Centerville, Iowa, and Connie Conkel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Cynthia (Ric) Brambilla, Lisa (Stephen) Tucker, Dana (Roger) Finely, Michael (Sara) Posovich, Jodyie (Dave) Lanser, Rita (Dave) Susin, Susan (Art) Kirchoff, Jason Raskie, Melissa Raskie, Erika (Randy) Henkes, and Jenny Conkel; twenty two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers, Jim, Carl, Harley, Bob, and Roy; and a sister, Jennie Howe.
Mass of Resurrection will be held 10 AM Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Father Dennis Schaab officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 PM and a Scripture Service at 7:30 PM. A memorial has been established to Mercy Hospice or St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St. Centerville, Iowa 52544.
