Wilmetta Waddell's Obituary
Wilmetta L. Waddell, 82, of Corydon passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Corydon Specialty Care. Wilmetta grew up in Oklahoma. She was the 2nd of 7 children born to Orval & Lennie (Ely) Watkins. Wilmetta loved playing basketball while in high school. She was a farm wife that spent many hours gardening and working on the farm. Wilmetta was a loving mother that enjoyed raising her children and taking them to their activities. Later in life, she received her LPN degree. Wilmetta was a talented crafter and spent many hours making gifts and clothing for her grandchildren. After retiring, Wilmetta and Rooke enjoyed spending the winters in Okeechobee, Florida, where they fished and played bingo. Survivors include her siblings: Gerald Watkins, Walter Watkins (Wanda), Barbara Lane (Frank), and Jack Watkins (Cheryl), daughters: Rosetti Green, Rebecca Pashek (Kenneth) and Rometta Hart, grandchildren: Dante Quinn (Felix), Danielle Vaassen (Craig Anderson), Shane Pashek (Ann), Amy Sacker (Jeremy), Samantha Boyd, Stephanie Eason (Tyler), David Cox, Marie Cox (Jay), Miranda Cox (Mo), Mike Schultz (Julie), LeKeisha Willis, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Wilmetta is preceded in death by her husband Humphrey (Rooke) Waddell, parents Orval and Lennie Watkins, brother Gene Watkins (Mary Ellen), their daughter (Debbie), brother Gary Watkins (Pat), sister-in-law Loretta Watkins, son-in-law Arthur Green, and great-granddaughter, Mattelyn Lachner. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Rev. Shawn LaRue officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Clio Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 p.m., with the family present from 4-6 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
