Wilmer L. Lyons' Obituary
Wilmer L. Lyons, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa and a former Exline, Iowa resident, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Clovis and Daisy (Exline) Lyons on January 4, 1921 in Exline, Iowa. He graduated from the Exline Community School in 1938.On April 5, 1942, Wilmer was united in marriage to Marjorie Rowan in Trenton, Missouri. Wilmer farmed near Exline all his life. He enjoyed being a carpenter and together with his wife, raised Cocker Spaniels and Pomeranian dogs and was a member of the Exline Methodist ChurchWilmer was preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Marieta Irelan and Eleanor Traxler; and a granddaughter, Rhonda Lyons.He is survived by: his wife, Marjorie Lyons of Centerville, Iowa; and a son, Roger and his wife, Kathleen Lyons of Mystic, Iowa; grandchildren, Marcy Thamke and her husband, Aaron of Centerville, Iowa and Richard Lyons and his wife, Lora of Moulton, Iowa; and three great grandchildren, Shelby and Breanna Thamke and Seth Lyons.Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Exline Cemetery in Exline, Iowa with Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Visitation will be open from 1 till 6 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville and the family will be present on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 10 am till the time of services.Memorials can be made inliu of flowers to the the Exline Community Center and Exline Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
