William P. Scott, Jr.'s Obituary
William P. Scott, Jr., age 89, of Mystic, Iowa, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was born the son of William P. and Mary A. (Showalter) Scott, Sr. on July 29, 1914 in Numa, Iowa. He graduated from the Mystic Community Schools.In 1942, Bill was united in marriage to Julia Kuberski Wailes. He worked as a truck driver for Banquet Foods before joining the Ford Motor Company in Chicago, Illinois until his retirement in 1977 when he returned to Mystic. He served on the Mystic City Council and the Cemetery Committee.Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Julia Scott on May 1, 1995; step-son, Bobby Wailes; sisters, Maxine Tuttle, Helen Cool and Lois Edwards Withrow.Surviving family are: step-daughter, Donna J. Hudson and her husband, Donald of Ottumwa, Iowa; step-son, Billy Wailes of Fairfield, California; sister, Naomi Kinsinger of St. Joseph, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Dan French of the Davis Street Christian Church in Ottumwa, Iowa officiating. Burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery north of Mystic, Iowa following the services. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 2 till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to either the Ottumwa Hospice House or to the Mystic First Responders and can be mailed to or left at the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of William P.
