William Gary Phipps' Obituary
William Gary Phipps, age 78, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
He was born July 11, 1942 in Sycamore, Illinois, the son of Russell Phipps and Kathleen (Baldwin) Gibford.
William spent many years employed with Rubbermaid Manufacturing in Centerville.
With an outgoing personality, William loved joking with others and pulling pranks on them. Possessing a booming laugh heard by all, he enjoyed lightening the mood by simply being silly.
In his free time, William enjoyed can hunting all over Centerville, playing Yahtzee with family and friends, and watching movies, especially Gunsmoke.
Left to honor his memory include his six children, Valerie Phipps of Rock Island, Illinois, Robyn (Terry) Stevens of New Hartford, Iowa, Stacey Doak of Lowell, Arkansas, Rennie Bradley of Davenport, Iowa, Charlette Montero of Columbia, Missouri, and Elizabeth Marks of Quapaw, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Ted (Reta) Phipps of Jerusalem, Arkansas; a sister, Wilma (Bud) Hansen of Newton, Iowa; as well as several other family members and friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Phipps and Kathleen Gibford; and a brother, Lowell (Pete) Phipps.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville Mark Waits officiating. Burial will follow in the Main Station Cemetery, Rathbun. A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 9-11 AM. A memorial has been established to the Family of William Gary Phipps and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
