William Norris O'Conner Obituary's Obituary
William Norris O'Conner, 87 of Centerville passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. Norris was born in rural Centerville on October 7, 1924 to Frank and Cecil (Espy) O'Conner. He married Phyllis Lockman on June 21, 1948. He was a carpenter and farmer. Norris enjoyed several hobbies, including woodworking, antique vehicles, and playing instruments with his friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Centerville for over fifty years. He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Centerville; three children, Sheila Walker (Loren), Marlin O'Conner (Joanne) and Ranay O'Conner all of Centerville. Also survivng are four grandchildren, Amy Schroeder (Tim), Mitzi Stice, David Cox (Nolanne) and Angela Oehler (Shad); five great grandsons; four step-grandchildren, Ray Walker (Hope), Robin Fielweber (Scott), Ryan Walker (Tammi), and Lisa Rigdon; 11 step-great grandchildren, two step-great great grandchildren; sister, Enid Walker of Des Moines; sister-in-law Helen O'Conner of Centerville; many nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Marjorie and Fay Paxston, Manilla and Carl Boyer and a brother Kenneth O'Conner. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Visitation was 12-5 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will be in Haynes Cemetery.
