William Medland's Obituary
William Charles (Bill) Medland, 93, of Centerville died Sunday September 5, 2004 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab. He was born April 28, 1911 in Mystic the son of Richard and Esther (Nunney) Medland. He married Avis Blue Densler on November 26, 1938 in Unionville, Missouri. Bill is survived by three sons, Norman Medland and his wife Linda E. of Roseville, California, Maurice Medland and his wife Karen of Yorba Linda, California and Bill Medland and his wife Linda N. of Newton, Iowa; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one niece, Mary Alice Logsdon of Chariton, Iowa. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Avis; his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mary K. and Charles Davis; sister and brother-in-law Bob and Mary Medland and grandson David Medland. As a young man, Bill played softball and baseball for the Mystic Merchants and other area teams. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and fishing. For many years he was the concrete foreman for Central Construction of Indianola. He and his crew were instrumental in paving many secondary roads in central Iowa. Graveside services will be held, 11:00 a.m., Friday at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Friends may call 2-8PM Thursday at Thomas Lange Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-5 p.m..
