William McHargue's Obituary
William John McHargue, 85 of Moulton, passed away, Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at his home.
Bill was born to Dewey and Alice (Vaughn) McHargue on June 27, 1935 in Spickard, Missouri. He received his education from Spickard High School graduating in 1953. Bill was a veteran of the US Army from 1958-1961 with the Nike Hercules missile defense group in Greenland and Waukesha, WI. He was united in marriage to Mildred Maxine (Brooke) Brinegar on June 27, 1987.
Bill was very mechanically inclined and worked as a telephone engineer until he retired at age 50. He loved to tinker on small engines and rebuilt an antique tractor as a project, always whistling as he worked. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool as a young man and loved square dancing. He was always reading and had a book in progress at all times. He adored his grandkids, enjoyed gardening and feeding his wild bird flock year round.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mildred (Brooke) McHargue, children Tana Payne (Clemmie), Tammy John (Bruce), William John McHargue II, Jerry Brinegar (Mary), Wayne Brinegar (Sandy), Judy Power (Jerry), Lyle Brinegar and Kathy Switzer (Dave), 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and sisters W. Jean McKinney and W. Jannette Swale. He is preceded in death by his parents, son John McHargue, daughter, Marydonna McHargue, sister, W. Joan Barton and infant brother Eddie Joe McHargue.
Funeral service for Bill will be held at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
