William J. Martin's Obituary
William J. Martin, age 95, of Plano, Iowa, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at his home near Plano. He was born the son of Henry and Virge (Rissler) Martin on March 19, 1912 near Confidence, Iowa. He received his education in the Brushy rural school in Appanoose County. On March 18, 1934, William was united in marriage to Lois E. Goodell in Corydon, Iowa. He was a coal miner and did some trucking of agricultural products. William farmed all of his life near Plano and Confidence, Iowa. He was a member of the Chariton River Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Lois Martin on December 26, 2000; infant brother, Paul Martin; sisters, Thelma Naylor, Vera Porter and Fern Dhority.William is survived by: his children, Edwin and his wife, Carol Martin, James and his wife, Judy Martin and Carol Daugherty and her husband, Harold all of Plano, Iowa; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 1:30 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Del Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at the Brushy Cemetery north of Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2007 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm.Memorial can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa and can be left at the funeral home.
