William Robert Johnson's Obituary
William Robert Johnson, age 88 of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Charley and Ella May (Johnson) Johnson on March 31, 1921 near Blodgett, Missouri. He attended schools in Blodgett.On March 15, 1941, William was united in marriage to Estelle Marjorie Goetz in Bertrand, Missouri. He was a farmer and was also employed by Young Radiator in Centerville, Iowa for several years. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and work on the farm along side his son-in-law and was known for his story telling. He would also have time to cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals when he had the chance..He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Estelle Johnson on July 24, 2004; a brother, Billy Charles Johnson; five sisters, Imogene Thomasson, Helen Murphy, Opal Johnson (an infant), Dorothy Cline and Maxine Mott.William is survived by a son, Bill and his wife, Linda Johnson of Centerville, Iowa; a daughter, Jean and her husband, Dan Clark of Centerville, Iowa; a brother, Bobby Joe Johnson of Malta, Illinois; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Larry Bettis officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 3 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm.Memorials can be made to either the Hospice of Central Iowa or Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center's Activity Fund and can be left at the funeral home.
